My mom is from Newfoundland where the island is affectionately referred to as "The Rock" She grew up in hard times. She was forced to live in an orphanage because her father died of TB and her mother was impoverished. As a young mother, she had to deal with raising children with her husband stationed in England during WWII. Needless to say she was a very strong person and very loved, by everyone. I tried to capture a little bit of her life in this song.
